One way to flaunt the higher education we managed to secure is to update the university or department name on LinkedIn. The other way is to display ‘Alumni’ stickers showing our university or department logo on the windshield of our car or on our MacBook!

Recently, one of my friends posted a message seeking a volunteer to design a few ‘Alumni’ stickers for the Department of Design and Manufacturing (formerly Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing — CPDM) and also for Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore).

And I thought “Why not?”

Classic Alumni Sticker for IISc Bangalore

Click here to download a print-ready Photoshop (PSD, CMYK) file of the Classic Alumni Sticker for IISc Bangalore as a ZIP folder (2.74MB).

The PSD file has vector graphics of the Alumni round stickers with 2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch and 6 inch diameter.

The design of this Alumni sticker was straight forward.

  • I got a PSD Badge template with a classic design from FreePik.com.
  • I retained only the outer corrugated edge and the two stars on the either side of the badge.
  • I deleted all other visual elements like color fills and inner circles.
  • I added the old IISc logo and the text ‘Bangalore’ — this is the old spelling of the place.
  • The typeface used is ‘Acumin Variable Concept’ with the weight ‘ExtraCondensed Black.’
  • I made a transparent version and a version with white background for various applications.

New Alumni Sticker for IISc ‘Bengaluru’

Click here to download a print-ready Photoshop (PSD, CMYK) file of the New Alumni Sticker for IISc ‘Bengaluru’ as a ZIP folder (2.07MB). The PSD file has vector graphics of the Alumni round stickers with 2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch and 6 inch diameter.

This time, I made a few more changes to the design to make it more contemporary.

  • I opted for a smooth, round outline. So I removed the outer corrugated edge and the two stars on the either side of the classic version of the badge.
  • The circle was filled with the primary blue color of IISc Branding. There is no transparent version for this sticker.
  • I replaced the old logo with a reverse version of the new IISc logo. The text is updated to ‘Bengaluru.’
  • The typeface used is ‘Acumin Variable Concept’ with the weight ‘ExtraCondensed Medium.’
  • The text is appearing as the circular boundary of the sticker. So two circular arcs are added between the two lines of text to give continuity.

The design of this sticker is the same as that of the Classic IISc Bangalore badge shown above. The text and logo are updated to represent CPDM. I made a transparent version and a version with white background for various applications.

New Alumni Sticker for DM

CPDM (Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing) is renamed as DM (Department of Design & Manufacturing) in January 2024. As soon as the official branding is released, I will update the new DM Alumni sticker here. So, stay tuned!
